GUESS WHO’S BACK?

In the immortal words of Jim Nantz, “Hello, friends.” The last time we put pen to paper was November 30, 2024. Unranked Michigan had just stunned Ohio State at the Shoe. #2 Georgia survived unranked GA Tech by two in OT. The first ever 12-team College Football Playoff brackets were about to be set. And dallas2697 had just put the final punctuation mark on his 48-point dominance of the 2024 One Tru Champ season.

Since then, those embarrassed Buckeyes hoisted the ninth national championship trophy in school history. The Wolverines might need a loan from Warren Buffett just to cover the NCAA’s tab for their crimes against humanity. And Arizona State and Boise State sure as shit won’t be the beneficiary of a first round bye come December this year.

Yes, we are back, and the stakes are higher than ever. And if you thought you had time to calibrate for the season ahead, NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND (hat tip to the legend, Lee Corso… more to come on him in Week One). August 30, 2025 – nine months to the day since the OTC ended – the college football season puts boot to ball with a BANG. #1 Texas visits #3 (defending national champs) Ohio State in Columbus. #9 LSU is under the lights in Clemson against a #4 Tigers squad. And on Sunday, (the national runners up) #6 Notre Dame flies south to Miami to battle the #10 Canes. 

This off-season, coaching carousels spun like slot machines, NIL deals attracted hedge fund-level investments, and the transfer portal might as well charge admission. This sport we love continues to reinvent itself – new maps, new rivalries, new grudges. 

But through it all, OTC remains the one true constant. One league. One champ. One Tru Champ!

The path to immortality begins where it always does: reactivate your entry, pay your commissioner your dues, and prepare your gut for five months of agonizing pick ‘em decisions.

Dallas2697 wears the crown for now, but the throne is never safe and heavy is the head. Who will rise? Who will collapse? Who will be remembered as a One Tru Champ… and who will be left a One Tru Chump?
